The tour includes the following sites. You will see the Church of Blachernae, descend into the Basilica Cistern, explore the fascinating Panorama 1453 Museum, and at the end of the tour, you will visit the ancient walls of Constantinople.
Church of Blachernae – A famous church in the history of Eastern Christianity, once located near the imperial palace in the Blachernae suburb of Constantinople, close to the Golden Horn. The Orthodox Church established the Feast of the Protection of the Mother of God in honor of the appearance of the Virgin Mary in this church.
Panorama 1453 Museum – A panorama in Turkey dedicated to the decisive assault on the defensive fortifications of Constantinople by the troops of Sultan Mehmed II (1430–1481). It is housed in a specially constructed building with a large circular hall (38 m in diameter, 20 m high) and should be viewed from an observation platform located in its center, 14 meters from the walls. Special artificial lighting is used in the museum to enhance the visual effects of the panorama.
Ancient Walls of Constantinople – This amazing architectural structure dates back to the 5th century AD and is the only one preserved in Europe to this day.
Basilica Cistern – One of the many reservoirs built under Constantinople to store drinking water in case of drought or siege. A staircase of 52 steps will take you underground, where you will see an ancient reservoir with 336 columns in the dim light.
