Tour Details

The tour will allow you to see Istanbul in all its historical beauty.

The program includes the following places: Ibrahim Pasha Palace (Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art), Hippodrome Square, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Hürrem Sultan Hamam (external view), and the German Fountain.

Hagia Sophia is an ancient monument of Byzantine culture and now a landmark of Istanbul. The cathedral is protected by UNESCO. Hagia Sophia was an active temple until the fall of the monarchy. On July 24, 2020, the first Friday prayer in 86 years was held at the Hagia Sophia Mosque. Its official name today is the Grand Hagia Sophia Mosque. The Blue Mosque is one of the most significant symbols of Istanbul. The mosque was built in the 17th century by order of Sultan Ahmed I and is a masterpiece not only of Islamic but also of world architecture, as well as one of the largest mosques in the world.

Ibrahim Pasha Palace - Ibrahim Pasha was the childhood friend and right hand of Sultan Suleiman. He was known for his exceptional diplomatic talent, knew several languages, and was an excellent strategist and commander! Ibrahim Pasha was the husband of Sultan Suleiman I's sister, Hatice Sultan. The palace of Hatice Sultan and Ibrahim Pasha was a wedding gift from Sultan Suleiman himself. The palace was built on the site of the Constantinople Hippodrome (now Sultanahmet Square), and the dates of the start and completion of construction are unknown. It is only known that the building underwent repairs in 1521. After the execution of Ibrahim Pasha, the palace became the residence of subsequent grand viziers. Later, it housed an embassy, tailoring workshops, a military band, and a prison. Since 1938, the palace has been home to the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art.

Hippodrome Square occupies part of Sultanahmet Square. The construction of the Hippodrome was started by the Roman Emperor Septimius Severus in 203 AD, in those ancient times when the city of Byzantium stood on the site of Istanbul. The square preserves ancient architectural monuments: the Egyptian Obelisk made of white-pink Aswan granite, dating back to the 16th century BC, and the Serpent Column, symbolizing the victory of the Greeks over the Persians in 478 BC.

Hürrem Sultan Hamam (external view) was built in 1557 by order of Sultan Suleiman for his beloved wife Hürrem Sultan. In 2011, after restoration work, the bathhouse was reopened to visitors and looks the same as it did 450 years ago. Today, the bathhouse is operational and is the most expensive and elite bathhouse in Turkey.

The German Fountain, located in the central Sultanahmet Square, was a gift from the Germans to the Ottoman Empire in memory of Kaiser Wilhelm II's second visit to Istanbul in 1898. The fountain is built in a neo-Byzantine style in the form of an eight-columned pavilion decorated with golden mosaics inside.
