The tour includes a very rich program full of fascinating and unique historical sites. You will visit the luxurious Dolmabahçe Palace and see the Süleymaniye Mosque, built by Suleiman the Magnificent.
Dolmabahçe Palace – was built by order of Sultan Abdülmecid I. The palace was constructed with great extravagance, sparing no expense, for a full 11 years. As a result, this unique structure, created in the spirit of European luxury in the Baroque style, was in no way inferior in status and prestige to its overseas predecessors, which was precisely the whim of Sultan Abdülmecid I. The palace building, with an area of 45,000 square meters, contains 285 rooms, 46 halls, 6 Turkish baths, and 68 toilets. The rich decorations for Dolmabahçe Palace – carpets, chandeliers, furniture, paintings – were also gifted by rulers of neighboring friendly states. A total of about 40 tons of silver and 14 tons of gold were used for the palace's decoration.
Süleymaniye Mosque – the creation of the great architect Sinan. Today, it is the largest mosque in Istanbul. It was built in 1557 during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent. Under the mosque's dome, which is 26.5 meters in diameter, about 5,000 believers can pray. The mosque complex also includes a library, madrasa, baths, kitchens, and even an observatory. In the mosque's courtyard, two adjacent mausoleums house the tombs of Sultan Suleiman and his beloved wife Hürrem Sultan.
